The answers to What is Paradise
You would think that Christians know where they are going but as we saw in the first question “What is Heaven” most of them don’t know that we are already in heaven. Jesus told his disciples at the last supper that in his father’s house are many rooms (mansions and dwelling places are false translations). Just like in your own home there are different rooms for different purposes so it is with the realm of Jehovah. Our entire universe is in one room, the throne is in another room, the Lake of Fire is in another room, Sheol is in another room, and there is a New Earth being created for us in another room. According to scripture Jesus has gone to the throne of his father, a place we cannot go ( Jn 8:21 and Jn 13:33). But while his is gone he will be preparing a place for us that he calls Paradise (Luk 23:43, Rev 2:7). That place is the eternal kingdom of Jesus Christ that is promised in so many prophecies of scripture. The Apostle Paul had a glimpse in 2 Cor 12:3 and it was indescribable. The bride of Christ is the New Jerusalem that is now almost ready to be revealed. The wedding is the union of Christ with his holy city on the New Earth.
In the attached graph you see a tie between the New Earth and the Throne of Yahweh. Nobody will ever exist at the Throne of Yahweh as it is today, the Golden City is not yet inhabitable, and the New Earth is yet to be revealed but the day will come when the throne and the city will be on the New Earth with mankind. So those who answered in that sense are exactly right with either choice. Ultimately Paradise will be the New Earth and the New Jerusalem and the Throne all united together in on place and that is where King Jesus will be establish his throne and be our god, and we will be his children.
There is no indication in scripture that a golden city is waiting for us up in the sky. The proponents of such a place use the references to the New Jerusalem (“the bride of Christ”) in Rev 21:2 & 9-21 to describe what this city is like. Problem is that it not ready for the wedding yet, and nobody is occupying that city yet. All souls are still in sheol awaiting judgement day.
