Jesus’ Disciples

Question 3…How Many Disciples Were Jewish

You can see from the survey that this is also a confusing issue. Many are not sure but most have been taught to think they all were Jews. You can only know the truth if you know what a Jew is. A Jew is a descendant of Judah. The last tribe of Israel was Judah. The Judeans were tasked with preparing for the coming of the Messiah and fulfilling the covenant that was made during the Exodus from Egypt. The Jews rejected the Messiah and finally betrayed their covenant with Yahweh, just as Judas betrayed his oath to Christ.
Matthew was a Levite. Simon Peter and brother Andrew, John and brother James, Judas the son of James, James the son of Alphaeus, Thomas (the twin), Nathaniel of Cana , Philip, Bartholomew, Thaddeus, and Simon the Zealot, were Galileans. I believe these Galileans were descendants of the northern 10 tribes of Israel. The Jews never accepted any of them as being Jews. It was Judas Iscariot who found favor with the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Abraham (descendant of Shem) was a Chaldean who migrated to the Land of Canaan (Canaan was a descendant of Ham).

Isaac had a son named Jacob and his name was changed to Israel. He was called a “Hebrew”.
Israel had twelve sons who migrated to Egypt were they were known as the “Hebrews”.
When they left Egypt the twelve tribes became known as the “Israelites”.
After King Solomon died the twelve tribes split; the ten northern tribes retained the name Israel. Benjamin and Judah merged as Judea.

The people who occupy the land of Israel today are Judeans. Some of them still practice the Mosaic Laws.
They are know as Jews. All Jews are of Judean descent.

The leaders of the Christian faith today continue to proclaim what will draw the most complacent attendees to their assemblies. People are confused and it’s much easier to placate them with things that tickle their ears.
